Philadelphia Based mixed media artist, Jerry Puryear actively challenges and recreates the daily narrative in Philly’s forgotten and hardest-hit neighborhoods. Extremely attracted to balance, It's clear that Jerry is deeply involved in Community Development via Programming and Education. He is associated with several organizations and initiatives. Including, West Park Cultural Center, which facilitates multiple programs with Philly schools, community centers, etc. The art-based programs cover a variety of art-related subjects like learning how to play a guitar as well. Partnership is a crucial theme as he has strong relationships with local non-profit organizations such as Spiral Q, We EmbraceFatherhood, and Mill Creek Community partnership to name a few. He also manages and facilitates "Fine Art Through Our Eyes" (F.A.T.O.E.) Art Bus specializes in pop-up art workshops, which not only provide various types of art lessons but are tailored to various age groups, accessing underdeveloped and forgotten neighborhoods across the city, demonstrating a strong commitment to engaging enriching, and uplifting the community through the arts. For over 20 years Jerry has put in work, using art as a means to promote social change.

He has been a featured artist donating his time and talents in the company of the Philadelphia mayor's office, he's created art for fundraising with Pathways to Housing, "Furnished for Good" as well as "We Embrace Fatherhood."

He describes his art as an examination of the soul of humanity, which stimulates thought-provoking images and questions with the intent to promote equality, caring about people, and encouraging a platform for the individual to express their personal narrative.
